Rawdon Cricket Club hosts a cricket match in memory of past Chairman, Cricket Chairman and Life Member Lawrence Walker, this Sunday.

Lawrence, who died in December 2016 aged 58, served Rawdon and the Aire-Wharfe League for many years, and latterly worked for the Yorkshire Cricket Board.

Cricket chairman Peter Smith said: “The club decided, together with the family, that this was a good way to remember Lawrence - inviting old friends, cricket acquaintances and colleagues to attend, raising money for two charities, and hopefully putting on a good game of cricket.

"We have worked hard to try and contact as many old friends and players as possible, to make it a fitting tribute, and hope it will be well attended.”

The 40-over match will take place at Rawdon, with wickets pitched at 2pm.

Programmes and raffle tickets will also be on sale in order to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research and Yorkshire County Cricket Club Charitable Youth Trust. Prizes include hospitality tickets donated by Headingley Experience, a signed bat donated by Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, Viking Club tickets and Vikings T20 shirt donated by Yorkshire.
