THE installation of Burley-in-Wharfedale's new artificial wicket at Scalebor Park is complete.

It is going to be used to help develop the club's burgeoning junior section.

Dave Cooper, Burley's director of cricket, is delighted with the new facility.

He said: "It will be used to by our two under-11 teams and our under-9s.

"We are signed up for the ECB All Stars cricket initiative aimed at introducing the game to five to eight year olds and now have the capacity to run the programme."

He added: "We have had fantastic support from people and organisations to raise funds and these include Burley Community Trust, Burley Parish Council, Burley Chamber of Trade Ilkley Round Table, Shipley Community Trust as well as generous individuals who have made donations, attended our Blues concert and entered the balloon race."

Signing on night for the club's juniors is tomorrow from 6pm at the clubhouse in Grange Road. Players aged eight to 15 are welcome.
