THIRD Division Green Lane claimed a top-flight scalp when they knocked Ilkley out of the Waddilove Cup.

A fifth-wicket stand of 106 between Ben Pengelley (90) and James Hall (42) helped Ilkley to a respectable 231-7.

Openers Waleed Akhtar (39) and Andy Lee (25) gave Lane a decent start before Michael Abbott took the game by the scruff of the neck.

He hammered six fours and four sixes in an unbeaten 80 off 73 balls which edged Lane into the next round by four wickets.

Two more Division Three sides, Tong Park Esholt and Menston also made it to the last eight. Tong Park Esholt beat Addingham and Menston defeated Thackley.

Opener Laurie O’Connor scored 61 for Addingham but their hopes of a decent total were dashed by Nick Flood who turned the tide as he picked up the last four wickets while conceding only two runs as the visitors were all out for 140.

Fawad Maqsood (81no) and James Druce (21no) saw Park into the next round with nine wickets in hand.

Menston’s batting kept getting started without being able to push on and they were bowled out for only 150 but new signing Phil Raikes (4-17) and Joshua Dracup (3-46) tore through Thackley for just 113.

There were a few nervous moments for Rawdon in chasing Adel’s 159 but a half-century from Kuda Samunderu kept them on track and James Doidge (22no) and Bradley Reeve (18no) saw them over the line with four wickets to spare.

Danny Bott (71) and Tom Day, whose 71 in 27 balls included seven fours and six sixes, starred in Burley’s 295-8. That proved far too good even for in-form Leeds Modernians who were restricted to 234-9, with Abbas Ahmed taking 5-41.

Chris Thompson and Nick Bulcock each hit 54 in Otley’s 228 and Bulcock then weighed in with 4-29 as Kirkstall were bowled out for 195. Otley now face a tough quarter-final away to Beckwithshaw,

The Division One leaders Beckwithshaw cruised through their tie with Steeton to win by eight wickets.

Steeton were dismissed for 106 with Craig Walton (32) and Tom Stead (28) proving to be their top scorers as Yasar Ali took 4-8 before following up with an unbeaten 62.

Horsforth never managed to recover from losing their first four wickets for 45 in reply to North Leeds’ 213-8 and even though Bailey Worcester (51), Ryan Sharrocks (47) and Byron Boshoff (38), made a fight of it, they were all out for 200.
