MENSTON duo Tom Lester and Phil Raikes broke the Aire-Wharfe League third-wicket partnership record in a match against Upper Wharfedale that produced 597 runs.

Lester smashed 14 sixes and 13 fours in racing to 165 in 92 balls and together with Raikes (119) put on 279, beating the mark set by Follifoot pair Christian Newton and Neil Walker in 2001.

The big hitting didn't stop there with Wharfedale's Jake Starkey grabbing a century but David Blackburn's 6-31 spell ensured Menston's win.

There was also some sparkling batting from Byron Boshoff who made an instant impact on his Horsforth debut with 95 as his side overwhelmed Steeton by 151 runs.

Boshoff hit ten fours and five sixes and with Chris Gordon (71) and Gareth Lee (48no) dominated the bowling as Horsforth raced to 321-6.

Andrew Robinson (4-27) and Matthew Wainwright (3-46) then got to work to ensure Horsforth are among only three Division One sides with maximum points from their first two games. Rawdon are also in that group after they pulled off an impressive victory over defending champions Otley.

A stand of 78 between Kuda Samunderu (84) and Nathan Goldthorp (33no) was the backbone of Rawdon's 259-7. Goldthorp then picked up 4-40 as the visitors were bowled out for 214 despite the efforts of seventh-wicket pair David Hester (59) and Sam Kellett (43) who put on 104.

The other side in the hundred percent trio are Bilton who comfortably beat Burley thanks to Vic Craven (127) and Mustahsan Shah (5-24).

Burley have still to register a win, as have Pool who fell 29 runs short of Kirkstall's 247-9. Pool's main hopes were dashed when Jake Zjilinszky was run out on 66.

Rob Spivey (40) top scored in Ilkley's 150-9 but Toby Jacklin (5-37 & 48no) saw Collingham to an eight-wicket win.

Guiseley are the only side in Division Two to have won both their matches after they crushed Addingham by 217 runs.

Tom Brady (139) and Richard Nichols (57) did the damage with the bat before Marcus Brown produced a devastating nine-over spell of 4-8 as Addingham crashed out for 64.

Barrie McCormick (4-32), Tom Westerman (3-36) and Naveed Panesar (3-30) seemed to have put Calverley on the road to victory when they bowled out Harden for 127 but their own batsmen didn't find life any easier and with Andy Bailey taking 4-20, they were dismissed for 94.

Andrew Parratt (5-43) helped restrict Illingworth to 198 and Josh Brooksbank (53no) saw Thackley to a five-wicket win.

Kervan Christmas's undefeated 51 was the highlight of Ben Rhydding's 145 but Knaresborough got home with two wickets to spare, while Skipton could only limp to 83 in reply to Colton's 233 target.

Menston's fireworks couldn't overshadow the impact Hall Park look set to make on Division Three, their six-wicket win at Green Lane making them the only side with two wins.

Phil Atkinson (76) top scored in Lane's 203 total but Mark McEneaney followed up his three-wicket haul with 63 and with opener Gary Walton (49no) ensured the victory.

Michael Clarke took three wickets in nine balls to complete a 5-18 spell as Alwoodley were dismissed for 159 and then hit 36no and with Rehaan Butt (47no) clinched the win for Bolton Villas.

Evergreen Mick Scott took 5-23 as Silsden crashed out for 117 of which Shaun Brentnall made 73. Ajanthe Weerapuli (49) and Nick Flood (47no) eased Tong Park Esholt to an easy win.

Chris Wheeler (61no) and Tom Smallwood (51) led the way in Olicanian's 205-3 but despite the efforts of Scott Sanderson (4-54), Leeds Modernians overhauled them.
