ILKLEY picked up their first win of the season but their celebrations were not as complete as they might have been because the three clubs immediately above them in the relegation race also won.

In a match restricted to 28 overs per side, Henry Wilson removed Rawdon’s openers before Dave Pennett (4-50) worked his way through a middle order.

No one could remove Andrew Doidge (27no) but Rob Spivey picked up three wickets in four balls and Rawdon were restricted to 132-9.

With Alex Bailey (60no) and Nick Cockcroft (32) leading the way, Ilkley got home by six wickets with seven balls to spare.

That put them within three points of Follifoot, who overcame Bilton, while North Leeds eased their relegation worries with a comfortable win over Collingham.

Guiseley remain just nine points clear of Ilkley after they won by 15 runs against Steeton who are starting to look anxiously over their shoulder.

Damon Reeve hit an unbeaten 70 and shared a stand of 95 with Joe Inglis, whose swashbuckling half-century was made in 30 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes.

That helped Guiseley to 148-3 in their 23 overs and despite the efforts of Andrew Foulds (50) and Stephen Pearson (30no), tight bowling from Chris Wain (3-24) and Marcus Brown (3-39) ensured a home win.

The bonus points system introduced last year could prove vital in these close races as Otley showed when they stretched their lead at the top to 15 points over Beckwithshaw, even though both their matches were abandoned.

While Beckwithshaw’s lasted just long enough for Burley’s Tom Day to score four off the only ball, Otley took advantage of winning the toss against third-placed Kirkstall and going flat out for the points.

Jamie Pickering set the tone, smashing 12 fours and seven sixes in a quick-fire 129. With Andy Rhodes making 37 off 16 balls, they declared in mid-over as soon as they had reached 225-3 and had attained the full five batting points.

A first bowling bonus came with two wickets before Kirkstall had even scored and even though the visitors briefly stopped the rot, they were struggling at 89-5 at the close, ensuring a second bowling bonus for the leaders.

With Horsforth’s game against relegation-threatened Harden rained off, Skipton went above them into second place in Division Two with a victory over leaders Colton.

In a match reduced to T20 proportions, Iqbal Khan stunned Colton with a flurry of eight fours and five sixes in making 75no in 30 balls to steer Skipton to 137-5. They then gambled on a declaration which paid off because they reduced Colton to 78-9, putting them just 13 points off the lead.

Pool stayed in the hunt, 13 points behind Skipton, after they demolished Ben Rhydding. Ben Platt (56) starred in their 137-6. Kervan Christmas picked up four wickets for Ben Rhydding. TPoll sealed their win with Dave Amos (4-70) and Sam Wilson (3-13) skittling out the visitors for 69.

At the other end of the table, Thackley’s third win in a row eased their fears, Danny Maguire (4-21) dominating as bottom club Green Lane were bowled out for 85 to set up a four-wicket victory.

A third away defeat in a row for Division Three leaders New Rover, this time at Upper Wharfedale, allowed Addingham to go back on top but it was a close run thing against struggling Silsden.

Chasing Addingham’s meagre 118-8, Silsden looked set for their first win when they reached 98-6. Their hopes were to be extinguished as Nathan Harford took two quick wickets before last man Michael Sugden was out with three runs needed.

Olicanian displaced Calverley in third place after skipper Harry Smallwood took 4-22 to dismiss them for 72 in reply to Olicanian’s 105-7.

Charlie Parker’s 4-8 haul was the eighth time he has taken four or more wickets this season as he helped Menston bowl out Bolton Villas for 73 on their way to a five-wicket win.

Hall Park's Steve Phillips

James Carlill took 4-69 as Alwoodley recovered from 1-3 to 151-7. Steve Phillips hit a half century in Hall Park’s reply to take him past 500 runs this season before the match was abandoned with Park on 100-8.
