PHILIP Leng grabbed three wickets in four balls to give Harden an Aire-Wharfe League victory at Tong Park Esholt, who were left wondering how on earth they had lost.

Lyle D’Rozario (5-33) and Nadeem Hanif (3-40) never let the Harden batting off the hook, and their 149 total looked eminently beatable, especially with opener Ajantha Weerapuli (65) going well.

With three overs to go, Park needed 17 to win with four wickets in hand but Matthew Hogg dismissed James Druce and Leng bowled Weerapuli, D’Rozario and Danny Bell to clinch a nine-run win with two balls to spare.

That sent Park to the bottom of Division Two, taking over from Thackley, who registered their first win of the season, beating Ben Rhydding by 21 runs.

It was a much-needed boost for a side who only four years ago were league champions and who must hope this marks the start of happier times.

Joe Ollerenshaw (45) and Josh Brooksbank (39) gave them a solid start with an opening stand of 65 but some nerves started to show when Alex Miller (4-40) inspired a collapse from 96-3 to 125-9.

But Ben Rhydding lost their first four wickets with only seven on the board, and even though Sam Housam (35no) and Robbie Oldham (34 in 24 balls) tried to rescue things, the visitors were bowled out for 104.

Three wickets each from Mahir Ali and Gareth Lee restricted Adel to 128-8, which Horsforth passed with ease thanks to an unbeaten half-century from Ryan Sharrocks.

Green Lane went down to their first defeat by 19 runs at Illingworth, who, with leaders Colton involved in one of the seven games that were rained off, took over top spot.

Defending champions Otley edged to within two points of Division One leaders Beckwithshaw when they took maximum points off Steeton.

Despite losing two early wickets, solid batting from Josh Atkinson (53), David Hester (47), James Davies (80) and Andy Rhodes (61) helped Otley to 271-8.

Steeton made a sound start but when they lost two quick wickets at 52-1, their innings fell apart, with Ben Morley (4-13) and Sam Blake (3-24) doing most of the damage.

Burley found the track at Kirkstall hard to handle and were dismissed for 96 and, even though Jason Wright (3-43) and Shane Etherington (3-25) tried to salvage a win, Steve Wilkinson (36no) saw the home side to a four-wicket victory.

Naveed Panesar (42) and Julian Thornhill (48) put on 89 but Calverley then struggled against the accuracy of Richard Hey (7-46) and lost their last five wickets for 22 in seven overs to end on 194.

That looked well within Addingham’s reach when openers Will Atkins (47) and Nathan Harford (33) were going well at 76-0 but then Panesar (5-48) had Harford caught to trigger a collapse, and even a spirited 26 not out from Hey couldn’t stop the visitors falling 31 short of victory.

That took Calverley up to third in Division Three while, at the other end of the table, Bolton Villas jumped out of the lower reaches with a comfortable win over Hall Park.

Luke Stockhill (64) was top-scorer in their 150 total but that proved ample because Sam Lawrence (6-28) and Lewis Brown (4-29) skittled Park out for 65.
