The Aire-Wharfe League Division Two promotion race is set for a dramatic finale. Ilkley, Rawdon and Knaresborough are fighting it out for the top two places.

And leaders Ilkley – who are one point ahead of Rawdon – visit Knaresborough who are a further point back on Saturday Ilkley would have made things more comfortable for themselves if they hadn’t had to settle for a losing draw at home to Thackley – whose hopes of going up were scuppered by the result.

Paul Naylor (57) and Luke Holroyd (61) put on 93 as Thackley set a target of 187-7 before Nasser Jamal (3-34) and Mahir Ali (3-33) restricted Ilkley to 151-8 in which Will Spivey (40) top scored.

Rawdon looked far more convinc- ing than Knaresborough – narrow winners at North Leeds – as they beat Green Lane by six wickets.

Andrew Doidge picked up 5-34 in Lane’s 130 which included 62 from Adeel Ashraf. Doidge then hit an unbeaten 51 and with George Myers(42no) saw Rawdon to victory.

Their last game is against Bolton Villas who still need three points to be sure of staying up after they were defeated by Colton while Bardsey beat Adel with one wicket and one run to spare.

Three wickets each from Mike Oldfield and Sam Lawrence kept Colton to 205-9 but Villas never looked like matching that and were dismissed for 138.

They must hope that Bardsey’s final opponents, already relegated Calverley, put up a better display than they did at Tong Park Esholt where veteran Mick Scott skittled them out for 52.

Scott’s 10.2 overs, including six maidens, brought him figures of 7-16 and he was assisted in the rout by Nadeem Hanif (3-35) before openers Ross Todd and Danny Groom eased their way to victory.

Division One champions Beckwith- shaw made hard work of beating Pool but still passed the 100-point mark for the season while Bilton remain in second spot after beating Burley.

Neil Davis (4-63) and Ed Brown (5-37) caused Bilton to collapse from 181-2 to 206 all out but Burley found batting no easier. Sajad Ali’s 5-54 included a hat-trick and despite a fighting seventh-wicket stand of 56 between Nick Brook (43) and Davies (37), Burley fell well short.

That leaves Otley as the only side able to deny Bilton the runners-up spot after they beat Collingham by four wickets.

Collingham looked set for a big score but a tight 15-over spell from James Davies which included five maidens helped restrict them to 229-8 Otley openers Ben Morley (72) and Stewart Smith (47) put on a century and 51 in 38 balls from Andy Rhodes made sure they took full points.

Steeton lost four wickets for four runs in the 90s on the way to 132 with Tom Pratt taking 4-26 giving Ben Rhydding a comfortable afternoon. Robbie Oldham scored 52no as they eased home in 23.5 overs.

Dave Pennett (40no) and Chris Wain (34) helped Guiseley recover from a middle-order collapse to 186-7 but despite the efforts of Tallan Wright (4-36) and Wain (4-54), Follifoot clinched their fourth win.

Horsforth’s hopes of promotion from Division Three came to an end when they were bowled out for 131 in reply to Illingworth’s 146 Upper Wharfedale beat Woodhouse by six wickets to make sure of an immediate return to Division two after being relegated last season.

Gary Owens (5-45) and Andrew Fergie (3-15) bowled out Menston for 111 to put champions Skipton on the way to their 14th win of the season.

Ricky Palacio (61) starred in Addingham’s 169 with Jonathan Postle and Ally Walshaw picking up four wickets each before Steve Phillips hit an unbeaten 108 to clinch victory for Hall Park.

Chris Wheeler scored 107 of Olicanian’s 196-7 but they still went down by six wickets in their match at New Rover.
