Andrew Peel capped a memorable weekend with a fine spell of bowling that fired Burley into the semi-finals of the Waddilove Cup at the expense of holders Collingham.

Things did not look too hopeful when Toby Jacklin took 4-14 as Burley were dismissed for 159 with David Brook making 43.

Collingham looked hot favourites when they stood at 103-4 but then Peel, who had taken 4-20 the previous day, struck with three quick wickets on his way to 5-12 as only five more runs were added.

It was sweet revenge for last season’s defeat by Collingham in the semi-finals of the Aire-Wharfe League’s knockout competition and means Burley now face Follifoot for a place in the final as they look for a third cup win in four years.

Thackley struck a respectable 165-7 but their bowlers could not shift opener James Ford, who was unbeaten on 107 as Follifoot won by nine wickets. There was also a century from Stewart Smith as Otley moved a step closer to winning a trophy that has eluded them since 1987.

James Davies added 55 as Smith hit exactly 100 as Otley raced to 266-5 before bowling out struggling second-tier outfit Colton for 182.

Rawdon are looking a good bet for promotion from Division Two this season but they were outgunned by Division One leaders Beckwithshaw.

A middle-order collapse saw Rawdon bowled out for 150, which Beckwithshaw eased past for the loss of five wickets to give Otley a formidable task in the semi-finals.
