Before Addingham took on Woodhouse in the Aire-Wharfe League, Ricky Palacio went on twitter and admitted “somehow the feeling isn’t there”.

Opponents will be hoping they never face the prolific Kiwi when the feeling is there after he and Johnny Johnson tore apart the home bowling in a feast of big hitting.

Palacio struck six sixes in his 123, while at the other end Johnson hoisted eight over the boundary rope in racing to 175 off 139 balls during a second-wicket stand that put on 334.

Rob Ellis and Richard Hey then each picked up three cheap wickets as Woodhouse were routed for 109 in response to Addingham’s 350-4.

That keeps Addingham hot on the heels of early Division Three pacemakers Skipton, who were denied a fourth straight win mainly because their match was reduced to 29 overs per side and they did not have enough time to bowl out Olicanian.

But they still dominated and took five points after a partnership of 76 between Richard Nichols (43) and Ben Holderness (45) and a late unbeaten flourish of 45 between Gary Owens and Robert Walker saw them set a target of 165-6.

Olicanian openers Chris Wheeler (57no) and Neil Benbow (34) put on 79 but Arshad Latif (4-27) stemmed the flow and the home side were still two runs short of the target that would have given them a second point as they closed on 121-5.

Peter Kempton (90) was the star as Hall Park scored 245-7 on the way to taking five points at Alwoodley (115-8), while three wickets each from Sam Boyden and Gareth Lee restricted Silsden to 135-9 to set up Menston’s first win and lift them off the bottom of the table as they triumphed by four wickets.

Mark McEneany (43) top-scored for Horsforth but Upper Wharfedale passed their 137-7 total with eight wickets in hand.

Harden finally got their Division One campaign up and running as they took four points at second-placed Pool, the side they came up with last season.

Richard Wear (89no) and Ben Burkill (63) set them on the way with a partnership of 129 in a 198-4 total before Burkill had Pool on the ropes at 172-9 with a spell of 5-48.

Charlie Davy (48) and Ed Brown (42) were the main contributors to Burley’s 189-7 before Nick Brook (3-19) and Neil Davies (4-34) dismissed Otley for 154.

Andrew Luxton (41no) steered Steeton to a three-wicket victory, lifting them to third in the table, after Stephen Pearson (3-30) and Ross Suri (4-32) had restricted Follifoot to just 109.

Bradley Reeve picked up four wickets in Collingham’s 240-6 but Guiseley (124-7) never looked likely to reach their target and had to settle for a point – as did Ben Rhydding (153-6) at Beckwithshaw (225-8), who have already opened up a five-point lead at the top of the table.

Rawdon came out on top of the big Division Two clash with Thackley, who were dismissed for 130 with only Nasser Jamal (51) showing his usual form.

Josh Hobson (4-29) and John Hughes (5-13) did the damage, with Andrew Doidge (48no) guiding Rawdon to a three-wicket verdict after they were struggling at 56-4.

Tong Park Esholt were another side denied an outright win by a loss of overs. Nadeem Hanif (4-52) had Colton on the ropes at 167-9 in reply to the home side’s 217-5, in which Danny Groom hit 65 and Ajantha Weerapuli 53.

James Pearson (4-59) was top performer for Ilkley as they picked up two points at Bardsey (196-9), finishing 16 runs short of victory on 181-8 at the close, while Green Lane (141) were toppled from third in the table with defeat by North Leeds (142-2).

Bolton Villas had no answer to Knaresborough duo Josh Sundberg (104no) and veteran Mike Baxendall (6-10), going down by 86 runs on 150 in reply to 236-8.

And Calverley’s miserable start to the season continued at leaders Adel (201-7), only managing to reach 115 thanks to a top score of 18 from number ten batsman Jonathan Hudson.
