Alex cricketing in New Zealand
YOUNG Ilkley cricketer Alex Bailey is wintering' in New Zealand.
Alex was invited by former Ilkley and Ben Rhydding overseas player Leighton Parsons, with whom he is staying, to play for Leighton's club side Otorohanga in the North Island.
So far Alex has found batting predominantly on an artificial wicket has taken a bit of getting used to, it has, however, suited his leg spin bowling and he is currently the leading wicket taker in the league.
As well as playing for the club side Alex has been selected to play for the Waikato Valley District side in the Northern District Association Fergus Hickey/Hawke Cup Competition.
Last weekend Alex travelled to Auckland where he found the conventional wicket a lot more to his liking, scoring 49 to help Waikato Valley beat The Cook Islands.
