Only nine holes, but they are among the best in UK

One of the newest golf courses, Crow Nest at Brighouse might be only nine holes – but you will remember it.

Crow Nest was named in the country’s Top Ten Nine-Hole Courses by the National Golfer and Lady Golfer magazine for 2009.

Alternative tees ensure variety for players, and it boasts its own nine-bay driving range to warm up or practice.

The course is set in 70 acres of land once owned by Sir Titus Salt, the man behind Saltaire’s famous Salt’s Mill.

Alas, his magnificent house has been demolished but the course is a link to one of Bradford’s most famous sons.

It was built in 1995, with greens meeting demanding USGA specifications, so they are playable in even the worst weather.

A par 70 course set in glorious parkland with plenty of bunkers and water hazards, Crow Nest is an intriguing test.

The clubhouse has a welcoming ‘spike bar’ and its terraces provide magnificent views of the course, the lake and mature parkland setting with trees that are up to 400 years old.

The club has been constantly improved since it opened and its driving range is one of the country’s best.

Fully-lit and with a cushioned rubber floor, Crow Nest was the first range in in the region to introduce the revolutionary ‘automated tee’ practice facility.

Golfers simply pour their basket of balls into the hopper and a ball is ‘magically’ presented to the tee immediately after the previous ball has been struck.
