DOUGIE Lampkin added yet another chapter to his long, illustrious and unequalled riding career as he sealed a record extending Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) win after a tense final day showdown.

The Silsden rider made it four victories on the bounce for his team, Vertigo, seven in a row for himself and took his tally to 12 triumphs in Saturday's event, which has not been won more than five times by any other rider in its 100-year plus history.

The 42-year-old Red Bull athlete's latest success was a real battle of attrition and he called upon all his great experience and dogged determination.

Right up to the final section on Ben Nevis Cookridge’s Beta rider James Dabill held a two-penalty lead over the multi world and British champion then disaster struck.

The rear tyre was dislodged from the wheel rim and Dabill’s hopes were dashed in a second as his score climbed to 11, three more than Lampkin.

Kinlchleven’s Gary MacDonald hung on for the third place. He was victorious in the Pre-65 trial the previous week.

Denby Dale JST Gas Gas teamster Jack Price climbed to fourth place in a great ride relegating initial front runners Jack Sheppard and previous winner Sam Connor from midfield.

Whitby’s Andy Chilton, Leyburn joiner Richard Sadler and Faceby’s Guy Kendrew all completed the event in that order.

The finishing number was 239.

Lampkin and his cousin Ben Hemingway topped the Over 40 class. The Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club won the Club Team prize.
