A CONTINGENT of Otley Athletics Club runners took part in the Snake Lane 10 in Pocklington.

Conditions were almost perfect with just a slight breeze as Sara Elliott was the frontrunner for the black and whites.

Stephen Boddy was surprised to pass Andy Webster after 4.5 miles but Webster had fallen the week before and suffered a rib injury which was hampering his running.

Boddy finished in 586th with a chip time of 1hr 28min 02secs closely followed by Webster (593rd) in 1:28:55. Although nearly four minutes slower than last year, Boddy was pleased with his pace which showed an improvement from the previous week at Liversedge.

Other times were Sara Elliott (316th) 1:17:38, Rob Fearnley (709th) 1:35:49 and Sarah Fitzgerald (772nd) 1:38:43.

There were 934 finishers and the race was won by Steven Bateson of East Hull Harriers in 53:40. First lady (20th overall) was Josephine Stone of Middlesbrough AC in 59:23.
