JAMES Dabill produced an impressive performance in the latest round of the FIM World Trials Championships in Japan.

The British champion came second to the invincible world champion Toni Bou on Saturday and also beat Japanese star Takahisa Fujinami on home ground.

Weather conditions ranged from heavy rain to gale force wind. The second place for the Cookridge rider earned him 17 championship points.

Dabill was unable to match his performance on Sunday and was placed seventh.

He is now ranked sixth overall. The fourth trial will be held at Andorra on June 17-18. The British round will be at Tong's Parkwood Offroad Centre on July 8/9.

Fifty-six trial riders contested the fourth club trial on the Yeadon-Guiseley club's calendar. at Pratt's Farm, Silsden on Sunday.

A ten section four lap course tested all the main course contenders while 19 very young riders competed in a separate six section four-lap route.

Trawden inter-grade rider Tom Rushton won the hard route class from Yeadon's Louis Haley while Guiseley's Sam Jennings held off trials returnee Zac Sherwin.

Mirfield's Andrew Jackson and Summerbridge MRS Parts expert Phillip Hammond won Clubman A and B classes from Michael Benn and Chris Beecroft respectively.

Ladies inter champion Beth Dunning rode in the Clubman A class. Hull's Simone Wallis was eighth in Clubman B while Poppy Fletcher headed the five other girls in the small wheels division.

The Yeadon/Guiseley club are now gearing up for the Youth national at Brimham Rocks on June 11.
