Alistair Brownlee was runner up in the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year competition.
The gold medal-winning triathlete from Bramhope , who runs for Bingley Harriers and is a former pupil of Bradford Grammar School, was beaten by Wimbledon and Olympic tennis champion Andy Murray, who claimed the title for the third time.
This summer at the Rio Olympics Alistair became the first person to retain the men’s triathlon title when he took gold in 1hr 45min 01sec at Copacabana Beach.
His brother and fellow Bingley Harrier Jonathan, who was third in London four years previous, won silver.
After the announcement that Alistair was just pipped at the finish line, current Bradford Grammar School head Simon Hinchcliffe Tweeted: "All at Bradford Grammar very proud of inspirational Alistair Brownlee, and Jonny Brownlee too. What a year for you both!"
