A BRAVE group of Airecentre Pacers took on the Pain Barrier 10k – an off-road mud race in Tong, Bradford involving steep hills, ravines and, almost inevitably, knee-high muddy water – at the weekend.

Paul Grindley finished in an impressive and determined time of 1hr 18min 15sec, followed by team-mates Matt Lines 1:51:53, Sharon Warrington 1:51:54, Rachel Jovanovic 1:51:54, Gavin Birett 1:55:56, Nick Ford 1:56:05, Clare Ford 1:56:08 and Louise Brace 1:56:16.

They were followed by Jenna Hawkswell 2:06:04, Jen Sebright-Pickard 2:06:04, Anne Proctor 2:06:42, Megan Dennison 2:07:26, Liz Cook 2:07:31, Suzanne McKay 2:07:31, Daniel Hawes 2:19:46, Liz Churchill 2:19:59, Louise Rix 2:20:01, Jody Hill 2:30:52, Bekki Hirst 2:30:53, Adele Worley 2:38:53 and Jane Adair 2:39:02.

Two Pacers also completed the Sheffield 10k – Nicholas Ford in 43min 19sec and William Woodhead in a personal best of 44:45.

Grindley also completed the Bradford 5k in 18th place overall and third in his category in 22min 28sec.

The previous weekend, Jen and Emma Sebright-Pickard completed the Stroud Half Marathon together in 2hr 10min 47sec – a great effort from both ladies.
