SKYRAC fielded four teams in the Golden Acre Park relays organised by Abbey Runners on Wednesday.

Their highest-placed finishers were the Skyrac All Stars trio of Connor Craig-Jackson, Chris Dove and Joseph Connor-Jackson.

Craig-Jackson got the team off to a flying start on leg one, finishing in third place in 14:35. The team finished eighth overall in 47:57.

Next home for Skyrac was Mario Barbosa, Mark Beaumont and Todd Stuart who came 24th in a time of 52:44.

They were closely by the ladies veteran team, who produced the surprise of the evening. The combination of Rebecca Cesar de Sa, Donna Edmondson and Jane Halloran, all aged over 40 impressed.

Cesar de Sa set off well and got the team into a comfortable third place overall in the ladies race, finishing in 18 minutes.

Donna Edmondson took over on second leg and managed to literally get the team into first place just before the handover for leg three.

She was fastest ladies veteran on the night in 17:37. Jane Halloran had to battle against the ladies A team from Horsforth Harriers to secure the win.

It was a real surprise as the team had entered the veteran category in the hope of a win, yet to secure victory outright as ladies winners was a real shock. They came 33rd overall in 54:05.

Three seconds behind were the Skyrac men's veteran team comprising of Darren Parker, Nuno Cesar de Sa and Andy McCue, who returned a time of 54:08.

The fourth team home for Skyrac was Jenny Beaumont, Eve McGuire and Sarah Morley. They finished inside the top 100 teams, coming home in 74th place.

Skyrac meet at Nunroyd Park in Guiseley at 7.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. All runners, whatever their ability, are very welcome to come along.
