TOP cycling action returns to the streets of Ilkley on Wednesday night.

Topping the bill in the third Ilkley Town Centre Races will be the Lister Horsfall Grand Prix.

Among the entries is Commonwealth Games road race bronze medal winner Scott Thwaites.

The Burley-in-Wharfedale rider, who is currently competing in the Tour of Slovenia for his German Team Bora Argon 18, has been a strong supporter of the event in recent years.

Thwaites, who will be competing in the National Road Race Championships at Stockton next weekend, is always a popular figure on the local scene.

The field also includes the recent Pontefract Festival of Cycling winner, Harry Tanfield, who will be riding as part of a strong Pedal Heaven team.

Prolific winner Tom Pidcock is sure to feature having won both the junior race and the Ilkley GP at the town centre races last year.

The 16-year-old was fifth in the UCI Cyclo Cross World Championships at Zolder in January and is one of the country’s most talented youngsters.

The night’s action kicks off with the under-14s race at 6pm. That will be followed by the MAS Designs under-16 race, the Ilkley Cycles Grand Prix, the Avanti Gas Ladies Race and finally the Lister Horsfall Grand Prix.

The 1.5mile circuit includes Riddings Road and The Grove.
