THREE athletes from Skyrac are in training for the London Marathon.

David Stoneman and Rebecca César de Sá both ran the championship qualification times in the Yorkshire Marathon in October and finished 11th male and female respectively.

Rebecca also qualified with an amazing personal best of 3:06, well inside the female qualification time of 3:15 and knocking nearly five minutes off her previous fastest marathon.

This automatically qualified them for the Virgin London Marathon. Stoneman ran a personal best of 2hours 44min and was one minute inside the male championship qualification time of 2:45.

Both athletes are in training for April, along with Nuno César de Sá. He has been awarded Skyrac's club entry for the London Marathon and is hoping to knock time off his current marathon best of 3:26. All three athletes are delighted to have the opportunity qualify for the London Marathon and to be lining up on the day of the race with elite runners from around the world.

Stoneman and both César de Sá's ran the 22-mile off road Rombald's Stride earlier this month.

The conditions were difficult with heavy wind and rain all the way round. Stoneman, who ran the event for the first time, finished in 15th place with a time of 3:14:00.

Rebecca César de Sá, after finishing second female for the last two years, was finally rewarded with the top spot. She finished 25th on the day and was first female in 3 hours and 23 minutes.

Husband Nuno finished 30th in 3:26:00.
