OTLEY AC’s Scott Harrington has got his 2016 off to a great start after he came seventh in the Brass Monkey half-marathon in 1:10:25, with Mark Hall finishing in 40th place in 1:16:44 to take the MV55 prize.

Also for Otley were Sara Elliott in 1:39:56 and Andrew Rayner in 1:54:32. The winner was Dan Kestral (Barnsley AC) in 1:08:53 and the first lady in 56th place was Sharon Barlow (Darlington Harriers) in 1:18:35.

In the Soreen Stanbury Splash, Tom Pomfrett finished in 42:14; Bob Baker in 52:55, Kirsty Pomfrett in 53:09, Colin Best in 53:22 and Don Buffham in 57:20.

Colin Best said: “The Stanbury splash was once again changed to the Stoop route due to weather. I think it would have been no worse to run the proper route which was a shame as I was looking forward to wading thorough icy water.

The club’s first handicap of the year, the John Cowan Harewood Handicap, was won by Carol Armitstead in her 100th such race for the Otley. In second place was Tom Pomfrett with Phil Robinson in third.

lAirecentre Pacers’ Will Morris completed the Brass Monkey Half Marathon in York in a personal best time of 1:15:45, coming 28th overall.
