OTLEY AC's Graham Lake had a busy festive period taking part in three fell races. In the Auld Lang Syne race he finished in 52:13, with team-mate Shane Ewen in 56:09.

Also for Otley were Chris Stacey (63:09), Andrew Webster (64:57), Caron Ralph (70:26) and Christine Brunold (73:20).

The race was won by Chris Farrell (Horwich RMI) in 41:19 and the first lady in 27th place overall was Katie Walshaw (Holmfirth Harriers) in 49:04.

At the Guisborough Woods Fell Race, he was 16th out of 154 in 45:27. The winner was Aidan Rigby in 39:52 and the first lady was his sister Alice in 49:27.

Lake said: "The weather was sunny with only a light breeze, so perfect for running, and despite the previous day's torrential rain, the forest tracks had held up well. It's a three-lap race which means there's quite a lot of up and down compared to the race's length of 1,329 feet in 5.5 miles.

"I found I could catch up a lot of time and positions on the fast, technical downhill through the woods which finished each lap, so wasn’t too disappointed about my less-great uphill running."

Graham's third event was the Stoop Fell Race before Christmas which he completed in 40:06.

Sara Elliott took part in the Glynneath 5 in south Wales completing the course in 37:57 to take the second FV40 spot.

The winner was Kris Jones (Swansea Harriers) in 25:40 and the first female was Alaw Beynon Thomas (Swansea Harriers) in 29:00.

In the latest Peco cross-country event held at Middleton Park, in Leeds, Liam Dunne finished in 31:42. The winner was Jack Smith (Wharfedale Harriers) in 29:22.
