ILKLEY Grammar School PE teacher Sarah Davies set a new personal best in the snatch at the World Weightlifting Championships in Huston last week.
The 23-year-old former model, who was competing in the women's 69kg category, recorded 89kg in the snatch and 113kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 202kg in the C Group, but narrowly missed out on another personal best of 91kg in the snatch.
Sarah, who recently won gold in Lithuania in the European Under-23 Championships finished 32nd, but was pipped by one place and 2kg by her compatriot and fellow Europa Weightlifting Club member Emily Godfrey.
The Londoner, who was a runner-up in the British Championships, lifted 90kg in the snatch and 114kg in the clean and jerk.

British Weight Lifting performance director Tommy Yule said, “Sarah’s performance in Baku last month provided a great confidence boost in anticipation of the World Championships and it is terrific to see her push on here with another personal best."
