OTLEY AC's Scott Harrington returned to winning ways after a lay off with injury, finishing third in the Holmfirth 15 in 1:27:04 to also take the Yorkshire veterans' V35 title.

Mark Hall was sixth in 1:36:43, scooping the V55 prize as well as a Yorkshire veterans' title, while Christian Hosker was 30th in 1:54:22.

The winner was Nathanial Williams in 1:22:35 and the first lady was Emma Wilkins (Holmfirth Harriers) in 1:51:15.

Frank Beresford came second in the Wistow 10k in the Humberhead Levels, near Selby, being beaten by one second by John Hobbs (Valley Striders), who clocked 33:13.

Tom Lynch was 23rd in 39:07, and said: "I saw Frank Beresford zip off into the distance from the start line in customary fashion, but I could still catch sight of him for parts of the race across the open fields, mainly due to his socks!"

The first lady was Hannah Corne (Valley Striders) in 38:37.

In the Great Whernside Fell Race, Andrew Robertshaw finished the four-mile course, which included 1,500 feet of ascent, in 14th in 36:06, with Caron Ralph clocking 52:39.

Robertshaw said: "It was a classic fell race to the summit and back, where the strong climbers have the advantage in the race to the top, but the demon descenders often make up lots of ground on the return.

"After the initial steep climb, I was feeling a little lethargic, but came round towards the end of the climb, and the aim on the descent was to try and minimise the number who passed me, which I managed to keep to three."

The winner was Ted Mason (Wharfedale Harriers) in 31:11 and the first lady, with a new record of 33:50, was this year's English fell running champion Victoria Wilkinson (Bingley Harriers).

Tom Hannah, Malcolm Court and Richard Hamer travelled overseas to take part in Palma de Mallorca's festival of running.

Tom ran the half-marathon in 2:04:58, while Malcolm and Richard did the 10k, finishing in 54:49 and 59:06 respectively.
