FORMER Otley resident Adela Carter may have won round two of this year's National Trophy Series at Southampton.

But with Holmfirth junior Amira Mellor, who is 28 points ahead of second place, setting such a hot pace among the women, the Hope Factory Racing rider from Sheffield is realistically battling for the runners-up berth overall with team-mate Annie Simpson, from East Morton, and Merce Pacios Pujado.

The trio are separated by just eight points going into Sunday's fifth and penultimate round at Bradford's Peel Park.

There is no shortage of interest from Ilkley Cycling Club either.

Tim Bull, Ian Cliffe, Tim Gill, Andrew Whiteside, Arthur Wilson and John Wood have all entered the day's first race at 10.15am – the veteran men's 40-49 years – alongside Otley Cycle Club's Peter Middlemiss, while clubmate Andrew Moxon rides in the over-50 category.

Ilkley duo Jonny Gill and Ethan Whiteside and Otley CC's Luke Middlemiss are in the under-14 boys' race at 11.15am, while clubmates Joe Howcroft and Ryan Middlemiss compete in the under-16 boys' race at noon, along with Harry Hunt (Ilkley Cycling Club) and Tom Pidcock (Chevin Cycles.com Trek).

Ben Hallworth is the sole Ilkley CC entrant in the final race – the elite and under-23 men's at 2.30pm.
