Ilkley swimmer, Siân Morgan, competed at the weekend at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh in the Scottish Short Course National Swimming Championships.

Representing the University of Edinburgh, Siân came away with two individual silver medals and two silvers and a gold in the relay events.

Her first silver medal was won in the 800m freestyle where she knocked five seconds off her personal best time to finish in a time of 8.36 – just a second behind Olympic silver medallist and World Open Water Champion, Keri Anne Payne.

The following day she claimed another silver in an even tighter race in the 400m freestyle where Payne again just pipped her to the post, beating her by 0.4 of a second.

Siân, pictured, also claimed a fourth and fifth final position in the 200m and 100m freestyle respectively.

Siân was pleased with her performances especially as the meet was in the middle of her first term’s examinations.

She was delighted and proud to be part of the University of Edinburgh team who won the Best Team’trophy. She will return home to Ilkley for Christmas and a short break before going on a two-week training camp to Fuerteventura over the New Year.
