Otley’s Lizzie Armitstead and Olympic road race winner Marianne Vos championed the cause of women’s cycling with another thrilling battle at Manchester on Saturday night.
Just four months after their dramatic tussle at the London Olympics the the two stars took to the track for the Elite Women’s Omnium in the Revolution Series Round 2 at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.
Vos and Armitstead found themselves head-to-head in the third race of the evening, the Elimination Race, and just as in the summer it was the Dutchwoman who came out on top by two or three bike lengths.
