Ilkley swimmer Siân Morgan found herself competing against some of the world’s top swimmers on her Great Britain senior debut.

The 18-year-old was in the team that took part part in the Fina/Arena World Cup swimming meet in Berlin last weekend.

The meeting featured both multiple Olympic and World champions.

Siân swam in the 50, 100, 200 and 400 metres freestyle events.

On day one, she set a season’s best in the 200 metres free- style with a time of 2.01.20, racing in a heat with Olympic champion Camille Muffat of France.

She set a personal best time of 26.94 in the 50m race won by World Champion, Britta Steffan of Germany. On day two, she warmed up with a swim in the 100m with a time of 57.78. she then took part in the 400m freestyle setting another season’s best time of 4.16.14, just missing the final and coming a commendable 10th position.

Siân, in heavy training at Edinburgh University Swimm ing Club, competes in two weeks time at the British University Short Course Championships in Sheffield.
