Yeadon 's promotion bid is getting bogged down

Yeadon remain 23 points clear at the top of the JCT600 Bradford League Division two despite suffering a double washout last weekend.

Their matches at Bowling Old Lane on Saturday and home to Windhill on Sunday both fell victim to the horrendous weather.

It means that they have now had six of their 13 league games abandoned this season.

With more wet weather forecast the prospects aren’t good for Saturday when Yeadon entertain Bankfoot. They also visit Windhill on Sunday.

Yeadon groundsman Andy Pickering said: “I have never seen anything like it.

“The outfield is like a giant sponge. There has been so much rain that I haven’t been able to cut it for a month.

“It is such a shame because everything was looking good in March when we were preparing for the season, now the weather has made a massive change to the ground.

“It is soul destroying getting pitches ready and then seeing it rain again."”
