Otley Athletic Club is gearing up for Wednesday night’s Otley 10-mile Road Race (7.30pm).

The event has become a popular feature on the racing calendar since it was first run in 1989.

The course takes the runners along Pool Road, through Leathley and then back via Lindley and Farnley.

Last year the race was won by Eritrean runner Tsegezeab Woldemickael ahead of Wharfedale Harriers' Owen Beilby who himself recently won the Leeds Half Marathon.

The first lady last year was Pudsey Pacers' Karen Pickles and again it is expected that over 250 runners will take part next week.

Entries will be taken on the night and those runners will be eligible for prizes.

The man who has more success than anybody else in the race iss the host club’s Ian Fisher.

He has won the race ten times. His first success was in 1993.
