It's six out of six for leaders Yeadon

Yeadon are setting a hot pace at the top of the JCT600 Bradford League Division Two.

They recorded two fine victories over the Diamond Jubilee weekend to establish a 15-point lead over second-placed Morley.

It is just the start new skipper James Todd would have hoped for, particularly as contributions are coming from all areas of the team.

Yeadon’s all-round ability was illustrated as they defeated Baildon – many people’s tip for immediate promotion back to Division One – on Saturday by seven wickets and followed up with a 45-run triumph at Hartshead Moor on Monday.

The confidence gained from their last-ball win over previously unbeaten Gom- ersal a week earlier, showed against Baildon.

Off spinner Damon Gormley took 4-13 and Mahmood Rasool (4-46) as Baildon were bowled out for 141. Opener Gharib Razak (37) and former Yeadon batsman Kassir Maroof (30) were their top scorers.

Yeadon cruised to victory with 28 overs to spare as Gormley (48), Ben Elvidge (33no) and Oliver Halliday (30no) saw them home Elvidge’s growing emer- gence as an effective all-rounder was underlined as he struck an unbeaten 75 as Yeadon made 215-7. Wicket- keeper James Riley (47) weighed in with his top score of the season too.

Hartshead Moor can be a dangerous side, but apart from Simon North (44) their top order failed to fire as they were dismissed for 170.

Credit for that should go to the wily Gormley. The man who topped the Division Two bowling averages last year, returned his season’s best haul of 6-36.

Yeadon will hoping they can extend their winning sequence on Saturday when they play Great Horton at the White Swan ground.

Saturday’s fixtures Division Two: Bankfoot v Spen Victoria, Bowling Old Lane v Keighley, Gomersal v Windhill, Idle v Brighouse, Morley v Baildon, Yeadon v Great Horton.
