Guiseley’s Debbie Flood has been selected to row for Great Britain in the London Olympics.

And she has the added boost of competiing in the women’s quad – an event she won silver medals in at each of the last two Olympics.

The news came when the official team announcement was made at Windsor, yesterday.

Her selection had been thrown into doubt after illness forced her to miss the team trials.

Flood was also omitted from the first World Cup meeting of the year before returning in the women’s eight at Lucerne last month.

Flood and Frances Houghton, who was also a silver medal winner at Beijing, are joined in the quad by Beth Rodford and Melanie Wilson.
