Despite seeing their own Premier Division title hopes ended in recent weeks, Town showed that they remain formidable opponents for teams still in the championship race.

Bardsey discovered that to their cost at the Old Showfield on Saturday.

Town, who had drawn 1-1 at Oxenhope and defeated Carlton Athletic 5-2 at home, after the damaging defeats by Wetherby and Knaresborough, produced a most impressive display, The scorer for Town at Oxenhope was Sam Dexter with a penalty and on target at home against Carlton were Paul Harrison (2) Rob Carr, Paul Ashwell and Scott Cater.

Town clearly gained confidence from the Carlton result as they started brightly, but goalkeeper Gavin Phillis had to be alert on a couple of occasions.

Town went ahead after 30 minutes when Scott Cater hit an unstoppable shot from a free kick on the edge of the penalty area.

After the break Otley pressed for their second goal.

Ben Greenhow unluckily shot past a post before Chris Alderston struck the second goal after 61 minutes.

Cater scored his second when he ran at the Bardsey defence and his shot took a lucky deflection on its way into the net.
