Otley Town 0 Knaresborough 2

Otley’s fading Premier Division title challenge suffered another huge setback when they were defeated by the current pacesetters at the Old Showfield on Saturday.

Town were forced to make changes as four regulars were missing but the players who came in battled hard as the home side rattled the league leaders.

Chris Alderson played a one-two with Paul Harrison and saw his shot saved by the keeper’s toes.

Town again showed enterprise when young Sam Redhead got away on the right and hit a fine cross was headed just past the post by Alderson.

Knaresborough came into the game around the half hour and had couple of half chances but Town’s back three stood firm After the break Otley again put great effort but were undone after 58 minutes when a near post corner was flicked into the net.

This gave them renewed confidence and they started to get on top of a tiring Otley who had expended a great deal of effort.

Knaresborough made sure of the points when a fine shot from the right flew into the far corner.

Otley played much better than they did in the defeat at Wetherby and will look to return to winning ways at home to Carlton on Saturday (2.30pm).
