Guiseley 2 Harrogate Town 1

New striker Jason Price chose a timely moment to open his Guiseley account in Tuesday night’s derby clash.

The former Bantam stabbed in the Lions’ equaliser soon after the restart after they had trailed 1-0 at the interval.

Guiseley had mustered only three chances of note in a tense derby when Harrogate’s Will Turl headed them in front following a 43rd-minute corner.

The goal came just minutes after Price had failed to connect after Lee Ellington headed Joe O’Neill’s cross into his path.

The Lions were glad when the first half came to an end because they had also lost their midfield creator Danny Boshell after 34 minutes with a serious leg injury.

The outlook was much better after the break as Guiseley fought to prise open the Harrogate defence.

Price eased the growing anxiety inside Nethermoor when he turned in Simon Baldry’s cross.

Shortly after he was replaced by substitute James Walshaw who got litle change from the Harrogate defence.

Chibs Chilaka, a colleague of Price’s at Valley Parade last season, went close for Harrogate before another former Bantam settled the destiny of the points.

There were just seven minutes remaining when skipper Simon Ainge let fly from 20 yards.

His shot may have got a small deflection but Guiseley weren’t going to worry about that.

The win took them level on points with second-placed Nuneaton and gave them a boost for the trip to Hyde.
