Nuneaton Town 1 Guiseley 1

The Lions earned the point they needed to go above local rivals FC Halifax Town in the Blue Square Bet North but they still lost ground on leaders Hyde.

Guiseley made a dream start at second-placed Nuneaton as they took the lead through former Huddersfield Town midfielder Andy Holdsworth with a 20-yard free-kick.

There were few chances for either side and possession was quite evenly shared in the first half.

The visitors had a good chance soon after the break when Ciaran Toner headed a Holdsworth free-kick just over the target.

Nuneaton levelled on the hour mark through Adam Walker but Guiseley skipper Simon Ainge went close soon after from another free-kick.

The Lions did have the ball in the net for a second time during an 83rd-minute melee in the Town area but the officials ruled the strike out for offside.

Guiseley moved above the Shaymen on goal difference to reclaim third spot but Hyde romped to a 4-0 home victory which extended their lead over the Lions to 14 points.
