Darryn Stamp and Warren Peyton have both been released by Guiseley.

Stamp is 32 and Peyton 31, and they join James Walshaw, Ryan Toulson and Liam Needham out of the exit door at the Blue Square Bet North play-off finalists.

Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick said: “I would like to thank them both for what they have done at the club last season.

“They helped us to get where we needed to be, and Darryn was fantastic for us, especially in the last month, but Warren couldn’t commit to training twice a week with us last season and I needed fresher legs where Darryn is concerned.”

Kittrick confirmed that he will be in talks with a midfielder on Saturday who has played at Conference level, and he also still needs a back-up goalkeeper to first choice Steve Drench, with teenage shot-stopper Clarke Lydon having also left the club.

Guiseley have been installed as fifth favourites by the league’s sponsors to win the Blue Square Bet North title.

The Lions are a 10-1 shot behind Altrincham (6-1), Boston United (7-1), newly-promoted Halifax Town (8-1) and Nuneaton Town 9-1. “The odds are both good and bad,” said Kittrick. “We need to build on last season and hopefully we have brought in the players to help us do that.

“I will soon be talking to Chris Holland (first-team coach) and Martin Stringfellow (first-team physiotherapist) about pre-season.”

o The Station pub in Guiseley are collecting old or unused football boots to donate to charity.

Project Fair Play, which is run by the Youth Sport Trust, intends to offer football boots to disadvantaged children so that they can become involved in the game.

Last summer the Station was involved in the collection of hundreds of football shirts around the time of the World Cup.

Guiseley AFC are looking to contribute to the cause with any spare boots found at the ground.

The campaign runs until June 30. Boots can be dropped off at The Station, 70 Otley Road, Guiseley, LS20 8BH. Call 01943-872061 or visit www.youthsporttrust.org for details.
