De Silva 50 in vain for Yeadon

Yeadon's new overseas player Tharanga De Silva made an instant impression when he played at Farsley in the JCT600 Bradford League First Division.

The Sri Lankan scored 52 in Yeadon’s 195 all out after they were put in at Red Lane.

He hit seven fours in his 85-minute knock, and faced 63 balls but he lacked support, only openers Andrew Pickering (39) and Shabhan Raheem (20) and last man Mahmood Rasool (19) also reaching double figures.

Chris Henry took 4-77 and Lorenzo Inghram 2-52, while Robert Thornton was meanness itself in taking 2-15 from 15 overs.

Although Steve Simpson and Harvey Anderson fell cheaply in Farsley’s reply, Yorkshire all-rounder James Lee made 52 and added 97 runs for the third wicket with Shabbir Rashid (101 not out) as Yeadon were beaten by seven wickets with 10.2 overs to spare, Inghram being 28 not out at the end.

Rashid hit a six and 17 fours as Farsley gained their second win of the season. Earlier Inghram had taken a splendid catch to dismiss Paul Machell.

Jonathan Carey (58 and 4-35) was man of the match for Yeadon Seconds in their 59-run win over Farsley.
