Guiseley-based James Keinhorst has been promoted to the Premiership.

However, the Old Otliensians player won’t be supping Guinness – more like steins as he is making his debut this weekend in the German Championship for Heidelberg RK. James is the youngest of the four brothers to have played for the Chaffers Field club, with the 19-year-old being recruited by the 2008-09 German Championship runners-up.

Last month, he had the honour of being part of the German Under-19 team who played fixtures against Poland, Portugal and Georgia, and Otliensians wish him every success with his new venture and hopes he will go on to achieve full national honours.

James qualifies through his dad Wolfgang, who has lived in the United Kingdom for many years.

Meanwhile, Otliensians have been drawn at home to Halifax Vandals in the quarter-finals of the Yorkshire Silver Trophy.

The match is scheduled to be played in February but Otliensians are trying to fit it in on a mutually free date before then.

With the first team at home to Thornensians on Saturday in Yorkshire Division Two, Otliensians’ second team are at Thorne and the third team have a home derby against Otley Viscounts, all three matches kicking-off at 2.15pm.

Following a week’s break, Otley return to National League One on Saturday with a visit from leaders Esher, who, after completing eight straight wins, lost at Sedgley Park when conceding a last-minute penalty.
