Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick is pleased to have recruited goalkeeper Jon Worsnop before heading off on holiday.
Worsnop, who was an ever-present with rivals Bradford Park Avenue last season, has rejoined his former boss and will replace Polish goalkeeper Piotr Skiba as Guiseley’s number one in the coming season.
“There will be other new players arriving but I’m delighted that Spider (Worsnop) has already committed himself to the club,” said Kittrick.
“He was with us at Ossett Town but Avenue fancied him and Bob Blackburn came in and paid money for him.
“Ossett weren’t about to turn that offer down and we managed to get Piotr Skiba, so it worked out all round.”
Skiba followed Kittrick to Guiseley but he is now looking for a new club, as are Ryan Crossley and Simeon Bambrook.
The trio are the biggest names to be departing Nethermoor during the close season – but striker James Hanson may yet follow.
“We sat down around the table with Ryan and Simeon but we simply could not agree figures,” said Kittrick.
“The club made them offers, they turned them down and they have decided to look elsewhere.
“When I get back off holiday, I hope James will be signing. He won’t be gone by the time I get back because he is contracted to the club and is our player.
“He will be having trials with Bradford City in the pre-season and if anything develops there we would not stand in his way.
“His goal-scoring record speaks for itself and he is still a young man, so the potential for a career in the full-time game is there.
“However, at the moment I’m looking to sign a defender and a couple of midfielders. If James does go, I will have to add a striker to our wish list for next season.”
Worsnop almost became a Guiseley player a couple of season’s ago when he played in their pre-season friendlies but he then opted to sign for Witton Albion instead.
When Guiseley faced Witton in the following season Worsnop came up for a corner in the dying stages of the game and scored against Guiseley.
l Guiseley Ladies coach Liam Kelly has left the club to join Sheffield Wednesday Ladies.
