OTLEY Golf Club has a new president and captain following the annual meeting which was attended by over 100 members.

This was the 102nd AGM and after the business of the evening had been transacted Graham Sunderland was elected as president and Mike Bailey as captain for the coming year.

Mr Sunderland is a retired senior bank director while Mr Bailey will be known to many people as a former local headteacher and cricketer.

The snow-bound course did little to deter the high number of members who witnessed Mr Bailey’s captain’s drive-in on the Sunday following the AGM.

The captain proceeded to strike some exquisite drives from outside the clubhouse, with these being interspersed with some celebratory champagne toasts for his family and close friends.

Following the drive-in the clubhouse was filled to capacity with members joining the captain and his wife, Vivien, for lunch.
