HARRIET Dart was rewarded for her boldness in the Fuzion 100 Ilkley Trophy.

The 21-year-old Londoner defeated Russian teenager Anna Kalinskaya 6-4, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the $100,000 ITF Women's Circuit tournament.

World No 190 Dart, who has already reached the semi-finals at Surbiton and the quarter-finals at Manchester, said: "It was a good performance and I was just focusing on myself, focusing on my game.

"I was quite pleased with my service games and I had a couple of break points against me and managed to stay together and managed to break her."

Dart, who has become the first British woman to reach the last eight in the four years of the tournament – before only Samantha Murray and Laura Robson had even won a match – now plays Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska, who put out third seed Luksika Kumkhum (Thailand) 7-5, 6-4.

The other confirmed quarter-finals are No 1 Kaia Kanepi (Estonia) against No 7 Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia) in a battle between the only two remaining seeds, qualifier Abigail Tere-Apisah meeting 2016 winner Evgeniya Rodina (Russia), and the Czech Repulic's Tereza Smitkova facing Tunisia's Ons Jabeur.

Although Darian King (Barbados) faces Oscar Otte (Germany) in an unseeded men's quarter-final, the men's seeds have fared well in general.

Top seed Jordan Thompson (Australia), who lost at this stage two years ago, meets eighth seed Sergiy Stakhovsky (Ukraine), fifth seed Peter Polansky (Canada) plays unseeded Australian Jason Kubler, and seventh seed Michael Mmoh (United States) will be up against third seed Thomas Fabbiano (Italy).
