PUDSEY St Lawrence have opened up a 12-point lead in the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League Premier Division after cruising to an eight-wicket win over champions Hanging Heaton at Tofts Road.

Opening batsman Mark Robertshaw hit an unbeaten 85 to enable his side to cash in on the good work of their bowlers.

They justified skipper Chris Marsden’s decision to put Hanging Heaton in by dismissing them for 137, with opener Nick Connolly top-scoring with 35.

Left-armer Charlie Parker (3-25) and off-spinner Marsden (3-37) were the pick of the attack on a good afternoon for the Saints which saw them pocket a maximum 20 points.

New Farnley are now second after their crushing 10-wicket win at Scholes, which was inspired by their left-arm opening bowler Alex Lilley.

He followed up his seven-wicket haul against Hanging Heaton on Monday by going one better and returning the season’s best Premier Division figures of 8-36 as Scholes were skittled out for just 67.

Opener Martin Andersson was unbeaten on 34 as New Farnley reached their target without losing a wicket.

They were helped along the way by 32 extras, generosity that second-from-bottom Scholes can ill afford.

Lightcliffe are now level with Hanging Heaton on 100 points in third place.

They continued their winning run with a seven-wicket win at East Bierley.

Left-arm spinner Chris Greenwood – who recently passed the landmark of 500 Bradford League wickets – took 5-12 as rock-bottom East Bierley were dismissed for 83.

Opener Alex Stead (32) and overseas player Suleman Khan (32no) helped Lightcliffe to their modest target.

Woodlands are looking like a team with problems as they crashed to 68 all out against fast-improving neighbours Cleckheaton.

The Woodlands batting frailties were exposed by Cleckheaton’s new left-arm opening bowler Josh Thurwell, who was a close-season recruit from Carlton.

He found the conditions to his liking as he picked up his best Premier Division figures of 6-23.

New-ball partner Nick Walker (3-39) gave him good support.

Cleckheaton lost five wickets reaching their target as paceman Elliot Richardson picked up 4-28.

Farsley returned to winning ways after their two Bank Holiday weekend defeats with a 64-run win at Methley.

Overseas player Pat Kruger took 6-55 and was backed up by spinner James Logan (3-30) as a weakened Methley side were bowled out for 171 in reply to Farsley’s 235-7.

Jordan Laban (54) was the only batman to make an impression for the home side.

Farsley’s total owed much to half-centuries from Yorkshire player James Wainman and Mark Harrison.

Opener Wainman top-scored with 86 – an innings which included a six and 16 fours – while Harrison made an unbeaten 60.

The pair shared a fourth-wicket stand of 101, which played a big part in helping Farsley to harvest a maximum 20 points.

Townville’s Richie Bresnan produced a fine all-round performance as he helped his side secure a 56-run win over Bradford & Bingley.

Bresnan top-scored with an unbeaten 58 in his side’s total of 204-6 and took 3-12 as Bradford & Bingley were bowled out for 148.

Harry Clewett (53) shared a sixth-wicket alliance of 105 with Bresnan, while Zac Critchlow (3-16) was the best of the Bingley bowlers.

Bingley were soon in trouble at 34-4 when they replied.

Ed Brown (50) and skipper Matt Duce (41) fought hard to try and revive their side, but Townville were not going to be denied as Bresnan and Connor Harvey (3-52) wrapped up the victory.
