Horbury Town 3 Pool 0

ALTHOUGH Pool battled gamely in an evenly-contested first half, a disastrous last 45 minutes left them clinging on to survival in the West Yorkshire League Premier Division.

This game was abandoned earlier in the season with Pool losing 3-0 but this was a different match and Pool were looking good at half-time here with the score locked at 0-0.

Things turned against them rapidly in the second half though. They went a goal down before being reduced to ten men, when keeper Andy Doey was shown a red card.

They were always going to struggle after that refereeing decision and two more Horbury goals sealed their fate.

Pool Reserves suffered their own disappointment after a 1-1 draw at home to Kippax Reserves.

This was a massive match for both teams in the West Yorkshire League Alliance Division One relegation zone. Pool should have won this match easily, but chances went begging before young Hamish McNeil broke the deadlock for them.

Pool then took their foot off the gas, allowing Kippax back into the match and the away side's equaliser was no more than they deserved. East End Park's surprise victory against Headingley did neither of these teams any favours either.

The “A” team got back to winning ways though in Division One of the Harrogate and District League with a fine 5-2 win over Boroughbridge.

Two goals from Adam Dean, one each from David Potts and Jamie Kerr, and an own goal, did the damage as Pool A ran out comfortable winners.
