Pool 2 Robin Hood Athletic 2

THIS was another match which epitomises Pool's season as they continue their fight deep in the West Yorkshire League Premier Division relegation zone.

Robin Hood were stronger in the early exchanges, but failed to capitalise.

Pool responded by taking the lead when Tom Smith was brought down in the penalty area. He stepped up to finish the job from the spot.

Not for the first time this season, Pool failed to consolidate, being caught short in defence for Robin Hood to equalise within two minutes.

The rest of the half was a stalemate, however, the Pool half-time team talk clearly had the desired effect as they laid siege on the Robin Hood goal.

Pool were playing some fine football but the visitors defended resolutely with several blocks and excellent saves from their keeper.

Then, Tom Fleming rose to the occasion, firing home from distance to surely give Pool the points.

But, no, once again they lost out to a late goal via a free kick at the corner flag, one of only a handful of Robin Hood attacks in the half. The point still gives Pool hope, but they most definitely deserved better.

Pool's A team continued their good run of form by running out comfortable 8-0 winners against local rivals Addingham in the Heck Foods Harrogate League Division One.

Their scorers were, Chris Jones 2, David Potts 2, Jamie Kerr, Tom Hatley, Ian Smith and Adam Dean.
