FIELD progressed to the next round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup after their 7-4 victory against Hebden Royd RS.

Glyn Hirst led the way with four goals, and the others were scored by Nathan James, Lee Turner and substitute Sylbert Stewart.

It is the second successive match that Hirst has scored following their 2-2 draw against Ilkley Town in their West Yorkshire League Premier Division derby.

Curtis McMahon was also on target, with Toby Harris and Lee Spires replying for Town.

Wyke Wanderers remain top of Division One, despite a 3-0 loss at home to Broughbridge.

Wanderers started well and hit the bar before Joe Entwhistle's header was disallowed for offside.

Entwhistle was then substituted due to an injury after 35 minutes and his team suffered as a consequence, with Boroughbridge beginning to take control.

Poor decision-making and poor marking enabled Bridge to take a 2-0 lead, and Wyke were caught on the break as they fell 3-0 behind.

Wyeke's secretary Dave Ryan said: "This result was a reminder that it's a long season, and being top of the table means nothing at this stage.

"Boroughbridge thoroughly deserved their win."

 * In the FA Inter-League Cup first round, the West Yorkshire League  will travel to the Liverpool County Premier League next Saturday.
