Baildon 7 Yarnbury Hornets 16
YARNBURY Hornets won the Aire-Wharfe Plate final for the second season running after beating Baildon in an exiting game at Jenny Lane.
Winger Alex Clark went close for Hornets in the first minute before Baildon started to dominate possession.
The Yarnbury defence proved resolute and Baildon squandered a chance to open the scoring when he missed a penalty.
Former Baildon player Jarrod Huss kicked three first-half penalties for Hornets while the home side scored a converted try.
The slender 9-7 lead was extended early in the second half when
stand-off Danny Pound weaved his way through and scored an excellent try which Huss converted.
It proved to be the only score of the second half as Hornets preserved their lead to retain the trophy.
