Keighley 52 Yarnbury 33

YARNBURY went down fighting as their relegation to Yorkshire Two was confirmed.

They were beaten eight tries to five in an exciting game against a strong Keighley side and they dropped into the bottom two because Selby won 25-19 at Scarborough.

They finished the season level on points with North Ribblesdale but were relegated by virtue of having won two less games.

Yarnbury were under pressure from the start with Keighley stand-off Alex Brown spraying long passes left and right.

It was not long before Keighley were in front when prop Josh Hannah went in near the posts with Brown converting.

Yarnbury scored immediately afterwards with Cryan touching down after a succession of catch and drives by the pack. Stand-off Kieran Davies added the conversion.

Pressure continued from the impressive home side and tries followed from centre Joe Copper?waite on the overlap and prop Leigh ?Sugden before Yarnbury got some ball and attacked down the blind side for scrum half Nathan Benton to score in the corner and Davies to convert.

The visitors kept taking the game to Keighley and were held up on several occasions near the try line.

Eventually the pressure told when second row James Falgate powered over between numerous defenders to touch down.

A fourth try and a bonus point looked Yarnbury's only hope after Keighley scored again through impressive centre Adam Horsfall.

The Yarnbury pack were always a threat and a number of promising situations petered out as players became isolated from the support.

After a string of penalties, Nigel Benton got over in the corner with a brave touchdown and had to leave the field injured.

The final try of the game went to Yarnbury. Running the ball from his own line, Davies skipped past defenders on the left and his supporting backs took the ball through Jason Avison to create the chance for entre Tom O'Brien to score under the posts which Davies converted.

It was the final act of a difficult season for Yarnbury who will be hoping that their talented youngsters will flourish in Yorkshire Two.

Final score 52- 33 a tough match for this young side who should have a bit more time on the ball in Yorkshire 2.Luckily,Yarnbury have a good supply of youngsters and in Bob Hood and Gary Walker experienced coaches.
