MUHAMMAD Akhlaq has announced his arrival on the All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League scene in stunning style.

The 24-year-old hit a stunning 214 not out on his debut for Methley in their 146-run win over Ossett in Championship Division One.

Akhlaq, who plays for Lahore Blues in Pakistan, smashed 16 sixes and 18 fours in an innings which was just four runs short of the all-time league record of 218 set by Richard Gould for Gomersal against Great Horton in 2013.

What made his 145-ball knock all the more amazing was the fact he did it just three days after arriving in the country, having never played in English conditions before.

His agent, Khalid Rehman, said: "He told me after practice on Thursday that he felt good and he liked the look of the short boundary on one side of the ground.

"It is amazing that he should score a double century in his first game. No other player has done that before."

Marcus Walmsley (48) and Dan Shuffe (33) helped swell the Methley total to an imposing 357-3.

Ossett's reply of 211 owed much to the efforts of opener Zubair Raje (56) and No 3 Imran Patel (47), 14-year-old left-arm spinner Harry Sullivan impressed with 4-40 for Methley.

Left-arm spinner Andrew Stothart marked his return to Bankfoot with a match-winning performance against Bowling Old Lane.

Stothart took 5-27 as his side dismissed the visitors for 147 to secure a 50-run win.

Prangige Perris (49) and Dylan Ballance (38) - brother of Yorkshire skipper Gary - were the top scorers.

Amjad Tari was the most successful Old Lane bowler with 4-54, but Sadaqat Zaman impressed with 3-19 from 15 economical overs.

Undercliffe wasted no time in registering their first win of the season after dismissing Yeadon for 52 and knocking off the runs for the loss of just two wickets.

Craig Wiseman (4-14) and Michael Kelsey (4-2) ripped through the Yeadon batting order, with Zac Wheatley (24) top scorer.

New boy Ben Whitford was unbeaten on 29 when Undercliffe wrapped up victory.

Skipper James Stansfield was in good form with the ball as Scholes secured a seven-wicket win at Gomersal.

He took 5-28 as Scholes dismissed their rivals for 134, with Scholes easing to their target, with opener Shoukat Ali making 51 and new signing Gareth Lee 45 not out.

Morley, relegated last season, recorded an eight-wicket win under the guidance of new captain Oliver Halliday.

Opener James McNichol (61) and Henry Rush (37) made sure that their side didn't have any alarms as they chased down Baildon's 152-9 with 8.4 overs to spare.

Mounam Ejaz led the way with 63 for Baildon, while James Butterfield chipped in with 34 down the order.

The pick of the Morley bowlers was Nathan Bromby with 3-50.

Wrenthorpe's batsmen were in good form in the 96-run win over Birstall.

Luke Patel hit two sixes and 11 fours in his 80  while James Glynn (71) and Jonathan Sleightholme (66) impressed as Wrenthorpe compiled a 288-7.

Nick Kaye made a battling 53 for Birstall, while new signing Charlie Orme weighed in with 41 as they were dismissed for 192.

Spinners Matt Holstein (3-45) and Patel (3-57) were the chief wicket-takers.
