West Yorkshire League Premier Division

Pool 2 Robin Hood Athletic 1

POOL returned to winning ways in the West Yorkshire League Premier Division following a disappointing 1-0 midweek defeat by Horbury Town.

Robin Hood came close to opening the scoring, only a fine near post save from Andy Doey in the Pool goal kept them out.

Almost from the restart, Pool burst forward, Matthew Bilney breaking into the box before turning his marker and forcing a mistimed tackle which resulted in a penalty.

Bilney stepped up to finish the job from the spot.

Robin Hood were close to levelling before the interval, Tom Bull being on hand to head off the line when a goal seemed certain.

A break down the middle early in the second half gave Robin Hood the equaliser they deserved.

Their centre forward having the speed to beat all before firing over the advancing keeper.

Pool came back with the perfect response, breaking up the left, Bilney’s clever back heel put Grant Bligh through to put in a perfect cross to the far post.

Tom Smith rose to head against the crossbar, and was alert enough to finish the job from the rebound. West Yorkshire League Alliance Division 1
