Horbury Town 1 Pool 0

BOTH sides had a player sent off as Pool bowed out of the West Yorkshire League Cup at the third round stage.

Horbury striker Josh Stacey endured mixed fortunes. He scored the game's only goal in first half injury time before being dismissed early in the second .

Pool were unable to take advantage of their opponents being a man short and were reduced to ten themselves when Jordan Wagstaff conceded a penalty and received his second yellow card.

Keeper Andy Doey saved the resulting spot kick, but Pool never really looked like scoring as Horbury deservedly progressed to the quarter-finals.

POOL needed a result from this match to keep them out of the West Yorkshire League Alliance One relegation zone, and showed great character to achieve it.

A powerful shot from Wayne Hoban opened the scoring, then, a good run down the right saw Jhivar Saidgool put in a perfect low cross for Jamie Algar to push home Pool's second.

The visitors showed glimpses of ability, but the Pool defence stood firm. Park had their best spell early in the second half when some frantic defending was needed to keep them out before Pool's nerves were settled when Tom Sharp controlled the ball well before coolly placing his shot past the keeper.

A late strike from distance by Matthew White completed the scoring giving Pool a comfortable victory.
